That is really neat. They are talented people who come across as just "regular" folk.

Oh, what fun. Someday I hope to meet him. He has been my idol since the 80's when I first became aware of him. I have all of his books and they made me the decorator I am today. I love his work.

When I sell my house (lol) I plan to move to Chico to retire, I hope to make a drive to Redding and run into him at the mall or something.
I will have to stop in and check your bakery out.

When you see him tell him there is a decorator who owes a lifetime career to him.

I met him a couple of years ago at ICES and bought my air brush and compressor from him. He was so nice and spent so much time explaining everything to me. Be sure and let us know when he'll be on the Food Network.

TheCakeDude Posted 28 Apr 2009 , 11:00pm

Just got home from the demo, it was AWESOME! He made a few sculptured buttercream characters, and he makes it look so easy! I took some pictures, ill be posting them soon. They said the challenge would be airing sometime in July or August, and some of the footage from today will be in the show. Look for me in the front row! Im the only one not in a chef jacket! (It was for the culinary arts class at the college, but I was Rolands guest!) They had me sign a release and everything....Jealous much? >icon_smile.gif Just kiddin, he really is just a normal guy....that just happens to be a world class master at buttercream sculpting!
