my 16 in cake pan doesn't fit in my oven! The only way it fits is if I put it on the bottom of the oven directly on top with no rack underneath. Can I do this or will it burn the bottom of my cake? I have a convection oven.

I think it will burn. I don't think there's anything you can do to make it fit, sorry!
Maybe lining the bottom with 2 layer of aluminium foil and use baking stripes.
I don't think that would be a good idea but who knows. I believe there are those half round cake pans of which you can put it together to make a gigantic circle.
I can get he largest square pan in my oven. I Put the rack on the bottom shelf then turn four glass souffle cups upsidedown and it raises the pan without hitting the lips of the rack. its high enough to bake and keeps the cake level. hope it helps?
