I want to use fresh raspberries as a filling for a cake. I plan on using them whole with a good bc dam. Will I need to keep it in the frig?

Yes, you must refrigerate this. If you don't, the sugar will mascerate the berries (draw the juice out) and you will have a wet mess in the middle when you cut it.
Also, I would not assemble this cake any sooner than the night before serving. The less time spent assembled, the better.
