I notice the cake decorators on TV shows like Ace of Cakes, Cake Challeges using PVC pipes and connectors, coppertubing, medal pipes, and wood to make stands etc., is these items foodsafe and what are they using to make these items foodsafe?

I don't know the answer, and I've been wondering the same thing. I saw a decorator on one of those shows stick a big metal pipe down through her cake and screw stuff to it. I, too, questioned whether that was food safe. icon_confused.gif

I saw a thread on CC sometime ago about PVC PIPE. Maybe you can search it or someone knows where it is. I have always thought that in cases where they used the other types os metals and wood etc, that they don't give the cakes to anyone to eat. Maybe its solely for the challenge purposes.

If your water runs through those pipes, why wouldn't they be food safe???

Now what surprised me is i saw the sale/scanner sticker still on the pipe that was being used in one of those cakes on sunday i think it was.
