I made vanilla last year and it is almost gone. I left the beans in the bottle the entire time. Is there anything other that I can do with the beans now-maybe use in making vanilla sugar? Or do I just need to toss them?

Thank you for any responses.

Did you split and scrape the beans already? I get my vanilla from Penzeys Spices and they split the beans but dont scrape them. I scrape the beans into my vanilla BC, for my special Vanilla Bean Butter Cream. ITs like vanilla bean ice cream, with those little flecks of vanilla in there. Very yummy.

Otherwise yeah make vanilla sugar. Stick your used beans into some sugar and shake regularly. I use 1 bean per 3 cups of sugar.

Thank you for the reply. Yes, I have already scraped the beans. I will use them in my sugar.

Thank you again!
