Can I substitute cream cheese for the butter in a 1/2 butter, 1/2 shortening buttercream recipe and still be able to pipe it? I want to do basket weave and ruffles on the side of the cake. Does anyone have a suitable recipe if you don't think it will work?

Look in the recipe section here there is one called crusting cream cheese buttercream. It tastes awesome but from experience dont do a stacked cake w/ fruit filling it slides!

I use the wedding crusting cream cheese frosting in the recipe section. I have never had a problem with it! Good luck

Would the Wilton paste colors work with the Crusting Cream Cheese Icing?
