Is there a recipe where the cream cheese frosting can stay unrefridgerated for a few hours? I hate the soury taste that the regular stuff gets when sitting out too long. I saw the recipe on here for Decorator's CC Icing, can that stay out longer? How long? Just curious. I asked this under the cake decorating tab yesterday and got no responses. Thanks.

I have made the crusting cream cheese icing from the recipe section here and it has sat out at a party for a few hours. Tasted fine.

Check out Edna's recipe at designmeacake.com

I had it unrefrigerated for 24 hours with no problems.

I used the crusting cream cheese frosting the other day (delicious, by the way!).

First, I contacted Kraft Foods and asked how long a cream cheese frosting could sit unrefrigerated, and they said 3 hours. I figured they were probably being really conservative so that they couldn't be held accountable if someone got sick.

So, long story short, I'd say AT LEAST 3 hours.
