I'm pretty new to cake decorating, I mean I've done the star tip cakes for ever, but recently have been making cakes for everyone just to get decorating practice in. I'm having a problem choosing borders, there's so many of them and after I pick one, put it on the cake, I find one that would've looked better. icon_cry.gif

How do you "pros" pick a border??

Well I'm no pro but I usually take a piece of wax paper and pipe a small row and hold that up to the side of the cake. Then if I don't like it I just pipe something different on the wax paper and do the same thing again. That way you can get a general feel for what it would look like without damaging your cake. I hope that helps.
