I just got my great cake job, you know that cake you've been wanting to do? It was a tinkerbell cake and the guy willingly agreed to my price, he even said "go to town" when I asked what he wanted, "just have a tinkerbell on it" So the cake is due Friday and he was coming today to sign the contract. And instead I get this email Sorry I won't need the cake. WHAT? I call him up and ask what happened? He says, oh my ex wife got a cake through the bakery, Sorry. I wanted to cry. This was going to be a huge cake for me, I couldn't wait to put it up on the website and brag DAGNABIT!!!!

Well, think of it this way - Tinkerbell is a copywrited character. You wouldn't really be able to put the cake on your website anyway. Better to lose the order than get sued by Disney.

My ex-wife is the reason I do not have a cake business. Every thing I make money on, she gets a portion of.

SO... I give my cakes away and enjoy the fact that I created a great work of art and someone enjoyed it. (The people that I make the cakes for actually but the ingredients for me)

If only he had signed the contract a little bit sooner. Maybe find an occasion for someone you know who likes Tinkerbell or Disney so you can still do the cake? I bet it would have looked amazing icon_smile.gif

For every ex-wife out there, there's an ex-husband floating around in the ether somewhere. I know because I am one and I have one. Between you and me, ex-wives got it going on all over ex-husbands. icon_biggrin.gif

What the heck. I say make the cake anyway just for yourself and your friends! And don't forget to take pics! icon_smile.gif

And me - and how lucky am i - cause now i am married to a better man.

And this ex wife never bought a cake from no bakery for her childrens birthdays - they got cake from the one person who found the pennies and more importantly took the time to bake their special cake - from scratch.

How lucky am i ?- very lucky because i will always have those memories.

Some Ex Wives are just pure gold. icon_smile.gificon_smile.gificon_smile.gif

I think whats important here is...

1. HE HAD good intentions. To get a great cake for his little girl. Maybe next time. Unfortunately...he got overuled.

I feel his pain here...My son is a single dad, with an ex from H#$%%.
Shes does everything she can to undermine his good intentions....

I wish ALL ex's would try and work together....for the kids sake.

Wise words indeed.
Sadly, that would be JUST too easy wouldn't it Sweetcakes.
But there are those of us who remembered it was the *childs* day and *both* shared in the joy.

It surely made happy children turn into well adjusted happy Adults.

Bh.

LOLOL....yes, she's right. Not to minimize your feelings! I know its easy to get caught up in OUR cake feelings.
I just got a call from a sad little bride who's wedding was canceled 5 days before her wedding (this weekend!) She no longer needs her cake.
I felt terrible for her.
But...WAIT! That cake money was going to pay for my classes at cake camp!...Damn! I pouted, whined, moaned, griped....Until finally my DH said. "Listen...You are out a cake, SHE is out a husband." Boy did that put things into perspective.... icon_redface.gif
Things could always be worse....

Don't you hate it when they take the wind right out of a really good pout? Darn them for being reasonable and wise(on the rare occasion this happens icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif)
