Starting Cake Business

I have wanted to own my own shop for many years i just didnt know what kind of shop i wanted to open. That was until i started my first cake class and some how i knew that s what kind of shop i want to open. I am in college now and work full time at a daycare. I want to start out slow and make sure that i am going to be able to do this for sure, but i know when the time comes that my parents will be able to help me get it started. So do you guys have any tips, ideas ect of thing that i can do now to get started or prepaired for some day opening my own cake shop? THanks

Learn as much about cake decorating as you can. Don't be satisfied with what you learn in the cake the internet for all types of ideas. Make cakes for friends, birthdays, family reunions, etc. Practice, practice, practice.

Take extra business classes! Advertising, Marketing, Economics, Accounting etc.

Having a solid foundation of business knowledge and skills is even more important than decorating skills.
