Ideas For Cake For Double 80Th Birthday Party For Parents

I'm looking for ideas on how I can make one cake, probably a stacked or tiered cake honoring my parents 80th birthdays (they are just months apart and are wanting one party). They do not have similiar interests so it is making it harder. I'm thinking if I could do one side of the cake for mom with flowers, butterflies etc and then when you turn it around then it would be for my dad...sports related i think. Just not sure if this will work or if someone could give me other ideas it would be great. I just want it to be something fancy, because my mom doesn't get things like that so I want her to realize she is special and an 80th birthday is special. My dad won't care one one or the other. Thanks for any suggestions
What about something related to the year they were born? Kind of like those newspapers people buy from the year the birthday girl was born. It would be the same for both of them....convenient!
I am doing a cake for a 89th birthday party and the daughter wants me to use her mothers favorite color and her favorite flower. The cake will be 3 tiers the base color is cream with lavender rose. I am going with a real pale/pastel lavender and the roses will be small/petite. HTH Debbie
Or pictures of their lives together. I made a cake for my DH's grandmother and I turned all our pics into edible images and put them around the cake in fondant frames.
She loved it.
I love your idea of doing one half for mom and one half for dad! I think that would look great, esp like a 3 tier cake (if you wouldn't have too much cake). I also like the idea of pics of their life together. They have those seperators that are circles that you can print out pics (non edible) and place them in the circles. They look really cool! Good luck and post pics when it's done!
