I need to put fresh pansies on a basket weave cake today. Do I just attach them with frosting like I would any other decoration?
Any idea how long the pansies will last? I'm assuming that they will last longer if we refridgerate cake. I have to do cake this morning but it won't be served until this evening.
Thanks!

I'd use a posy pick for fresh flowers, and just insert them right before serving.

I know pansies are edible, but are the ones you have food-grade (pesticide free)? If so, then I would refrigerate and put them on as late as possible in the day with a little frosting and refrigerate the cake until serving). If they are NOT food-grade you'll most definitely need to create a barrier (flower picks, parchment, etc).
