Help Please!!! My Filling Tends To...abandon The Cake!!!

I always have the same problem, when I am ready to crumbcake the cake with buttercream my filling starts to come out and it is a mess!!! Yesterday, I tried to make a shoebox and left one centimeter from each side of the cake unfilled. The problem was that the cake wasn't level!! It was higher in the middle and all the corners were lower. I was terrified and decided to fill it anyway, wich was another disaster.
Could you please tell me what is the process I have to follow in order not to have to deal with this nightmare again???

Even though it looks like the dam is regular medium buttercream its better if it's stiff consistency
