I just had my third Fondant and Gum Paste class. I love making the gum paste flowers.

Here is what we needed for our first class:

Fondant and Gum Paste student kit
12 inch Wilton silver cake bases or 1 pack of 12 inch cake circles and Fanci-Foil
Roll and Cut Mat (or the mat from the Course 3 kit)
A large rolling pin
Small angled spatula
Tapered spatula (I didn't take this in, I think it is used to help pick up fondant pieces off the mat)
Disposable decorating gloves (optional)
Disposable clothes (such as Handi-wipes, they are cloth like towels that I found in the paper towel aisle of my grocery store. We used these as our dusting pouch insted of the one in the kit. The one in the kit is awful!)
2 tablespoons of shortening
2 tablespoons of corn starch
2 tablespoons of powdered sugar
Toothpicks
Corsage pin (some kind of pin used to pop any bubbles formed in the fondant)
Scissors
Scotch tape
Plastic food storage wrap
2 or 3 gallon size food storage bags
2 or 3 quart size food storage bags
1 package of white fondant- 24 oz ( I would suggest buying the large 5 lb box of fondant instead, you will definetly use it)
1 fondant multi-pack (primary or pastel) (I didn't buy this, just colored white fondant with the wilton gel colors)
Piping gel
Pizza cutter or other pastry or fondant cutter
