Has anyone ever used the SPS with 3 inch round pans? I only have the 3 inch. Can you cut the columns?

I may be wrong but I think if the cake is 3 inches then after you ice and fill it, it would be closer to 4 inches so cutting the legs wouldn't be an issue.

I know Leah is a big SPS advocate and she says to just consistently make your layers to exactly 4 inches but I still have trouble getting it there! icon_redface.gif

I am so glad that Leah got me hooked on SPS for stacking, it has really solved my problems. I don't use the columns at all... I use a wooden dowel that fits into the little round guides - works like a charm! I use my handy dowel cutter, and wah-lah I have any length that I need. It really is so versatile. I think DH said they were 5/16's. Sometimes I use a little squirt of frosting first. Just be sure to cut all 4 dowels to the same length for a perfectly level cake.
