hello...just want to ask...what is the difference between royal icing and gumpaste?...can i also thin gumpaste to fill out any design i want?? from the recipes i found here, gumpaste seems like its more like fondant than royal icing....is gumpaste harder than royal icing?? i need to make a character that i will use as a topper for my cake..

Royal icing you pipe out of an icing bag. Gumpaste dries much faster and harder than fondant. That's probably what you're talking about. You wouldn't use royal to make a character out of.
