I saw this cute topsy turvy cake that JenWhitlock did but I'm not sure how tall I should do each tier. Here is the link to her cake http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=1331476

She mentioned that she used a 3,5,7 but how tall would I make them.

I've never done a topsy turvy and I liked the idea of starting small.

THank you for the help.

Thank you for your help - what I actually needed was to know if I use size 7, 5, & 3 how high should I make each tier before I begin carving. Should I do 2 - 2 inch layers or ....

Thanks again.

I personally think the key to a great looking topsy cake is the height of the layers. I peronally think 4" is the min. for height however a 4" tall by 3" round layer would look rediculous not to mention be very unsturday.

I'm not sure but you could try doing the 7" tier 2 2" layers, and the 5" & 3" tiers being 2 1.5" layers...

Not really much help sorry.

PM Jen, she'll probably tell you how tall she did the tiers. I'm guessing they are 3" tall.

I'd like to start off with the smaller one too.
Let us know if you find out the answer about height ~ I'm interested to know as well!! icon_smile.gif
