Hi, I'm just wondering when you make a tiered cake how big of a diamerter dowel do you use? I have seen plenty of info on how long they should be, but can't find anything on how round they should be.

I just buy the package in the cake section of walmart. They are about the size of a pencil. This way they fit in my sharpener well when I have to sharpen one to go down the middle of my tiered cakes.

Yep, I usually get the package of Wilton ones and they've worked okay so far.
