I was at the store yesterday and purchased some awesome colored sugar for my easter cookies and then i started wondering, is it possible to make your own colored sugar from just using gran. sugar and food colorings? Anyone tried this? Just curious if it can be done, it sure would save me some money, those little containers i bought were 3.99 a piece.

Yes, I just ad bits of colored gel and mix well until I get the desired shade. I then pour it out on a cookie sheet and let it sit until it's dry. I test this by touch, if my fingers get some color on them it's not dry enough.
