I am making royal icing right now and I can't get it red. I'm using Wilton Christmas Red but it looks pink. I've used almost the whole jar. It works fine in the buttercream I made. Will it darken as it hardens? Should I go ahead and use it? The royal and buttercream roses will be on the same cake, different levels, but I don't want pink.

Red Making dark red icing can be a challenge. Make your icing a day ahead of time. That dark pink icing will darken over time and turn into the red you need if you give it 24 hours.

I got that from :
