I personally do not like German Chocolate cake, or rather the icing I should say, so I have never bothered to try it before.
That being said, my Mom has requested that I make a GC cake for my big bro this Sunday (the big 3-0 !) cause it's his all time fav.
I want it to be really special (he is my brother after all!) so I really want to make everything from scratch.
I have narrowed it down to 2 recipes I have found on CC, but I don't know which is the better of the 2. The look almost exactly the same, but one calls for butter the other for shortening.
Also, one says it will make a 4 layer 9" round while the other says only 3 layers but still 9". ?????
Or, if you have a better or personal fav recipe for this, please share!
Oh, yeah! The icing is completely different in the 2 recipes. ??
