Ok, so I have had a request for chocolate mocha cake. The client doesn't like fondant, but she wants white with zebra print on the bottom layer and plain purple on the top layer. Do you think this cake will taste odd with buttercream frosting??? icon_confused.gif

Hi and Welcome to CC, alwaysbridal. icon_smile.gif

Decoding CC acronyms:

You can flavor the b/c any way the customer likes so it shouldn't taste any different than fondant (only have a different texture or mouthfeel).

Also, the coloring gel doesn't usually add any "flavor" (unless you need a very deep red which usually requires more dye or cocoa for depth of color).

Tasty flavor combinations are whatever the customer likes!
Chocolate mocha cake with vanilla b/c is perfectly fine.

I love using fondant, but some people just dont like the texture. I think I will do a mocha flavored BC for filling and Vanilla BC for frosting. Thanks again.[/code]
