I recently made and decorated cookies in Royal Icing. After about a week though the icing separated from the cookies. Is this normal? Does anyone know why this happened?

(Tongue in cheek here) They were still around after a week?!?!?

I don't know the answer. Maybe the butter in the cookies got into the icing and made it loose its grip?
