thumbs_up.gif Hi , I just want to share..I won First Place at the California
State Fair CAke Show...Judges gave me a perfect score: 100% no deductions..They thought my Chocolate cake was "perfect" taste, flavor, texture everything..looks was not part of Judgement, w/c I knew before hand, but to me presentation is very important..In addition to First Place, I got 2 awards: Best Of Show and Best in Division

Your cake looks great! Where in California is the show? I never even new that there was such a thing, Also I was wondering on your cake with the lace border, how did you get it gold? I was told that if I took my brush dipped in water and then gold luster dust I could "paint" it on to my fondant. however, I tried and I did not like the way it turned out at all.

icon_smile.gif I don't do cakes as a business..thanks God !!!
Actually I use VOdka to mix w/ GOld Lustre dust..It is always held in Sacramento...

Great job! Now are you going to enter the San Diego Cake Club's Confections on Parade in March '06! That show judges on appearance, techniques used, and overall difficulty of techniques! This will be my third show. I have placed in a non-cake category the last two years (first and second)!

Your cakes are very beautiful and you use a lot of techniques, I think you should enter if it's feasable for you.

Fabulous job, it's so pretty.......would you mind sharing what recipe you used??? While it is really pretty, the recipe is always the most important part for me and I'm always on the lookout for a "blue ribbon" recipe, especially if it has chocolate! I am such a chocoholic!! icon_lol.gif
