Hi.. was wondering if someone could help me out with this. I am making a cake using a cream frosting and want to use fondant decorations. I tried using modelling paste on cream before and it melted (the paste). Looked at the gallery and saw cakes that had cream and fondant and it looked good. My questions is how long do they last before the fondant starts to melt into the cream? Or does fondant stay harder for longer? My cake is due this weekend so any help would be much appreciated! I am hopeless at cream decorations so want to use fondant or modelling paste to make the sailboat and side decors. Thanks.

What do you mean with "cream frosting"?
What is it made of?
I've never heard of fondant melting into the frosting.

Its not buttercream .. dont know if you have heard of dreamwhip. Its like whipped cream but lighter and more delish! Consistency is the same and it also dries pretty solid like buttercream. I used it to frost some cupcakes last year and made small flowers from modelling paste. These all melted into the cream after a while
