Hi everyone,

I am hoping for a brilliant idea to help me with my son's birthday cake. He wants to have a superman holding up the daily planet globe. I can make the globe with no problem, but I have no idea how to get it up and have superman holding it up without having it be very unstable.

Anyone have any ideas? I would really appreciate it!

How about using a foam ball for the globe so that it's not so heavy...?

lotsofsprinkles,

Thanks so much for the input! I was originally hoping to make the globe the part that was made of cake and have it held up by some kind of dowel or something disguised by a superman made from fondant or gumpaste, but I may have to change my plan and have the globe be foam as you suggested and put a sheet cake or layer cake under the superman figure. I'm just not sure that it is possible to get the round cake up and hold it up without a fairly large plate under it and I don't want to have a big plate spoiling the look, not to mention I don't want it to fall during transport! It may be that the styrofoam is my best option. Thanks!
