So I made cupcakes today and the first batch was a butter golden cake, I used box mix and when they came out of the oven they had a funny crust on them and they sunk in, BAD! Usally they come out fluffy and pretty, i can not belive this happened. The only thing different i did was switch up my cupcake liners. They are all-natural liners so they are better for the environment! That's it!

I am not using Dunkin Hines Butter Golden Mix EVER agian!

Does anyone have any suggestions.

sunken cakes can happen if the oven door is opened during cooking, maybe the same applies to cupcakes?
ive had the crust before, but it was basically just sugar, cause i put in too much on a scratch mix. maybe the box mix hadnt been well mixed, so the sugar was separate? just a guess!
sorry that happened though.
