I'm making a chocolate brown fondant bow and need to add a gold fabric ribbon to each loop. whats the best way to attach?? will this even work???
Is it a must to use the ribbon? Personally I would just use a little bit of vodka or clear rum (evaporates quicker than extracts and has a less likely chance of "eating" the fondant - in case you are not familiar with this technique) with gold luster dust and paint the edges gold.
Reason to not go with the fabric idea: A whole lot easier painting the gold on. Plus there is SO many different type of ribbon out there and depending on the type it could show a stain (or wet look) on whatever you choose as a "glue." Personally I like the idea of "all edible" and the painted gold adds such a nice touch.
Quick idea: Ok...experiment (if you must) with piping gel on a scrap piece of fondant and adhere your ribbon. Let it sit out overnight to see what it does.
