i made my first fondant baby tonight for a baby shower cake for this weekend. she is pretty much a head and an arm, with blobbies for the body, covered in a blankie. now, here's a $64000 question - if the mom-to-be takes the baby off the top of the cake before she cuts it, wouldn't it be weird for her to see a head, an arm and a bunch of blobbies under a blankie?

i wondered what everyone else does when making a baby under a blankie? do you actually sculpt out the whole baby? i've never actually seen what's under those blankies. should i put the baby on some kind of fondant plaque, so she can be taken off as a whole?

help, please??

thanks so much!

I would put it on a plaque and glue it down. I usually sculpt it all out of fondant, or use rice krispies as a body. hth
