I am about to make my first bottle and I was wondering how long it will last or will I have to make this again for a cake I am doing in a couple of weeks.

if you keep the sugar bottle in a cool dry (30% humidity or less) place or in a zip-lock bag sealed from humidity it should last indefinitely. I have pieces that are 12 years old.
