What is the difference between Tylose and Gum Tragacanth?

I've used both mexican paste and gum paste but what is it that makes the difference?

Anyone know?

Both are gum based powders used to make various sugar pastes, such as gumpaste or pastillage. About the only real difference is that Tylose is whiter than Trag, so it makes for a whiter gumpaste.
