Fondant Cutout Slippage....

Whats the best way to stick fondant cutout to, well fondant?

I was making a bd cake with tt decorated with cutout circles, I used corn syrup to stick the circles on and this morning TAH-DAH! My circles have dropped about an inch from they're original position and the left shiny trails all over the tt of my cake! I've entered damage control mode (that should be my nickname) and this cake will be fine,I'm using more cutouts to cover what I now affectionatly call "my slime", but for future reference whats the best way to do this???
P.S. I think I might have made my cutouts a little to thick also.

If the fondant is fresh I just use a little bit of water. If I've left my fondant cake in the frig. or I'm attaching dried fondant pieces I use gumpaste "glue".

To make the glue mix 2 TBSP warm water with 1/4 tsp tylose powder. I let it sit for a few minutes to dissolve. I also use this glue when making flowers, gumpaste characters and other gumpaste designs.

i use water or clear vanilla extract or make gum glue: dissolve 1/4 tsp of gumpaste in 1 Tbl of water-let sit for one hour, keeps in fridge for 1 week.
