TV helps, but maybe sometimes it doesn't...

We just need to tell people up front that if they want a recognizable icon reproduced, we can't do it, period, unless it doesn't resemble the original at all. Great. So at a bride's princess/Disney wedding, she'll hear this: "I thought this was a Disney theme...Who are those random MICE on the cake in sweat pants, with no gloves? Who made your cake, dude? Don't they know what Mickey Mouse looks like? And who's the brunette in a green dress, in the pumpkin coach?" LOL It doesn't help that they're seeing this done ALL the time on TV, with no warning that it's not as simple as just calling up and asking for the design. Easier to just say we can't do duplications.

"Now, if I can direct your attention to this nifty sheet cake"... LOL

Does anyone know how one (like us) would go about even GETting permission to do a cake with a known icon on it? Nike swoosh? Harley bike?

"We are keen to increase links with leading brands. We would be thrilled with the opportunity to work with a brand such as Louis Vuitton."

i guess that discussion didnt go quite as planned, a 'threatening letter from LV' mentioned on their site suggests not!
(btw, ive tasted their cakes, very tasty, and very good to look at too)

And don't forget about the 'specially spiced' brownies when I'm in the slammer. icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

Well to avoid court costs and time away from my business, I'll just not make them. Hmmm makes me wonder why I've never seen Collette, Ron, Mike, Marina or any of the other Cake Masters making character or designer bag cakes or shoes. Unless it's a competition and even then there's a representative there. So....
