I had a cake explode on me it was the strangest thing ever.

I live in the high elevation I'm about 4000. I made the sugar beer bottle cake and drove it down the hill.

thank goodness I got a photo of it BEFORE... I was so upset that it exploded that I forgot to shoot a photo of it in pieces, thank GOD it was for a Family member but I still felt terrible.

the only thing I can think it could of been is that the sugar bottles put in the cake didnt have bottoms and maybe the air and attitude pushed air into those bottles and POP.

Anyone ever have this happen or maybe have any ideas

I have never had a cake explode - that is a new one, but I can definitely relate to having a cake disaster. Had one last night - luckily the cake was a just because cake for my family. It still makes you feel bad though. Better luck next time.

So sorry... icon_sad.gif

Although it does sounds facsinating, maybe Alton Brown can illuminate...

I love the science of baking, LMK if you find out why it exploded.

Still very sorry, you must've put a lot of work into that.
Best wishes

I was thinking the same thing! You gotta write to Alton Brown and ask him for an explanation!
