Okay,

The cake is basically the same...Not as many flowers but here are my questions for how to make this cake.

Is this cake BC with fondant accents or all Fondant (gp)? I can never tell with her because both are so flawless...

Did you use a mini rose mold for the petunia centers?

What kind of cutters do you use for the big white flower on the side?

For the rope swag, do you twist ropes together from your extrusion gun or do you use a silicone mold? If so what disk for the extrusion gun do you use?

Think I would be nuts to make this cake BC with fondant accents? I am most concerned with the ribbon the top tier.

the petunia center is a PME blossom plunger cutter ( metal); comes in set of 3 sizes at global plus a gragee. we are doing this exact cake right now in my class in MI. PS I am freezing my arse off but having fun!

thank you so much!

think i will be sticking with 6/9 and then adding the extra layer as the customer only needs 40 servings..

rocketgirl, I think you could save money on your clay gun. There is a Makin's one that is favored by many, many here. It is only $24 and you can get a 40% off coupon for it. Try Joann's or Hobby Lobby.

there r 2 makin ones I am aware of..

the DREADED plunger (which I have used at the place I use to work...

and then the one with the twisting corkscrew thing which I haven't tried it it seems like it would be easier...

but I am a fan of the squeezing one from global sugar art or whatever with the red handle. is that one a ratcheting one?

I have looked into and compared both and think the sugar art one is going to be the best. I think its expensive, but considering how many times I wished I had it.. .its not terrible. PLUS it only hurts I am buying SOOOO much at once.

but thanks for the tip!! to save 30 bux might be worth it right now...

The Makin's one I'm referring to is the screw type one, not the plunger. Those are a PITA for sure. I've been really happy with it, but I can't say I have the same needs/uses for it that you have.

bizatchgirl

if the sugarcraft one is not ratcheting I might consider your suggestion, but I remember some saying they can't find the twisty one anymore. I will look icon_biggrin.gif Thank you!

The twisty one is no longer available at Michael's. I think other stores are still carrying it and you should be able to find it online. Lose out on the 40% off that way, but maybe you can find it for less than the stores have it.

bizatchgirl...

I am going to take you up on your suggestion and get the Makin one.

I just bought boxes and bows from Sugarshack (I wasn't budgeting for that) so I think it will be a good idea to start with this one. Thank you icon_smile.gif

Does hobby lobby do coupons?! come to find out I have one about 15-20 minutes from me! yippppeee!
