ok so can i have like a basic vanilla cake and that be my base for any kind of flavor cake? And just add in flavors or what? Do I need to cancel out other liquids or how does that work...if any one knows of a website that breaks it all down or whatever let me know.

Rose Levy Berenbaum's book The Cake Bible does a great job explaining about cakes.
