I use whatever cake I want to eat (or the person I'm making it for wants). There is no specific cake that it better for fondant. I'm not sure if this is your first time using fondant, but I do not suggest using Wilton's boxed fondant. Either buy Satin Ice from the internet or make your own. Marshmallow Fondant (MMF) is easy and yummy. Good luck! Feel free to PM me if you need help with anything.
