I am constructing a pink gift box with a black bow, but I am having a hard time figuring out how the best way to make the lid would be. I would love some advice and tips on how to do this.

I've looked at many photos of gift box cakes and just can't figure it out, please help.

I just got Sugarshack's Boxes & Bows DVD, but I've only watched a little bit of it. Here is a "bump" so maybe someone will jump in who can give you some advice.

I have done several box cakes. I usually do the lids in styrofaom covered with fondant. then dowel to hold up on front, like it is partiall y open. You can do the lid in cake with a sturdy board under it, and hold partially open with dowel rods. But, I am now only doing in styrofoam. Much easier and quicker and I dont have to worry about the customer having a problem getting it home.

Hope this helps PS I also like to add fondant tissue paper between box and lid
