HELP!!!

You'd think there would be tons, and I'm sure I can come up with something, but I was hoping to gather some ideas for a crazy 1980's theme cake.

Does anyone have any clues where to look? I tried Google images and Flickr already... Of course CC was my first search.

I've seen a few different ones on here when I was searching for an 80's themed cake. There are a few Rubik cubes and record players. I opted for a Ms. Pac Man cake which was super easy to make. I'm sure some other people here will have some more ideas for you. Good luck!

Macsmom - I see your dilemma. I have searched for these before by typing in 80 - while I got a bunch of 80th birthday cakes, I did get a lot of 1980s cakes. However, I just did that same search now so I could send you a link, and I got no results at all???? Wonder if something's messed up on CC right now?

Instead of trying to find cake pictures, why not just randomly search 80's nostalgia sites? You could probably find a lot of inspiration that way. icon_smile.gif

a giant cassette tape?

Don Johnson wearing leg warmers at the end of a rainbow?

OK, I'm going to go get my rest now icon_rolleyes.gif

DUDE!! You're the bomb with a giant can of Aqua Net on top! I love those ideas!

Esprit, Pac Man, Pat Benetar (headbands), checkered Vans,

Oooo... one tier black/white checkered with the Vans logo. The top of the cake could mimic a mohawk with headband (half-dome shaped cake).

Hey! I found a cake pic by nhbaker! Love the figurine!

Why,... thank you icon_redface.gif The 80s were my best years! LOL

I like the mohawk/headband on top of the cake idea

Post your pic when it's done, OK?

What about a smurf with black curly hair wearing one strategically placed glittery white glove (chanelling Michael Jackson back when he was good)? Or Rainbow Bright and Punky Brewster holding a Care Bear or Cabbage Patch Doll? Or maybe Pippy Longstocking? Thundercats? GI Joe with big hair holding a boom box on his shoulder wearing LA Gear sneakers? I could go on and on. The 80's cartoons were the best!

The cake isn't due til April 1st, but she likes to get details down ASAP. (Me, too icon_rolleyes.gif ).

KICKER.... I just re-read her e-mail and she wrote "80's PROM"

I suggested draping one tier to look like her old prom dress and that a can of hair spray was a must. And thank you jdelaney81 for the boom box idea! I suggested that, too.

So, any prom ideas? icon_surprised.gif

Don't forget the stacked slouch socks. I used to have to buy shoes in a bigger size to wear all of the socks!!! icon_biggrin.gif

Oh, you mean that went out of style?! LOL!

I did mention Pretty in Pink and suggested Pink Champagne cake - she loved that idea!

She is going to wear an off-the-shoulder dress a'la Foot Loose, so I'm not sure how I could incorprate that... I was originally going to drape a tier in fondant to look like her old prom dress. I s'pose I'll do a search for that Foot Loose dress!

My 13 y/o son was recently an extra in a movie set in the 80's and it required him to dress 80's. I had to drag out an old year book so we'd know what to put him in!!! It was so funny to see all the kids dressed up the morning of the shoot. So many memories brought back up...leg warmers...leggings....the HAIR!!! lace gloves! Ya'll are all on the right track.
