Looking for some tips on how to attach fondant onto a buttercream iced cake. I'm planning on making a madi gras cake covered in buttercream but with fondant accents. I'm trying to put a harlequin pattern on the sides of the cake and fondant beads around the base. Will the fondant stick to the sides of a buttercream cake, especially one that crust's? Any advice please?
If the BC has crusted, just lightly brush the back of the fondant pieces with water and they'll stick.
