I had someone email me about a 3d truck cake and she only needed it to serve 6-8 people but would be okay if it needed to be bigger. I won't do it that small b/c it would be tiny and not worth the time it takes to plan and carve a cake. I think I need to set a minimum on my site for those orders. What have you guys found to be a good minimum for 3d cakes?
Danielle
I use $50.00 as a minimum but the price goes up depending on how much detail and work involved..like the motorcycle in my pics was $70 even though it may have only fed about 8-10 people
I haven't got anything set in stone yet but I've been sort of trying to start at $150 for minimum 15 servings because the small 3D cakes are just as much work as the larger ones, especially detailed ones like cars, etc. It takes me just as long to do the details for a 10 serving cake as for a 30 serving one!
$250.00 for 3-D carved cakes. If it's something super simple I will give a break, but I have a $100.00 minimum order all around. 3-D cakes take some planning and engineering that regular cakes don't.
I do a $150 minimum for 3-D cakes, which would be a minimum of around 20 servings. Anything more than that goes up depending on how hard it's going to be, and I do either $4 or $5 a serving (or more if it's ridiculously difficult.)
If they only need 5 or 6 servings, that's great, they can pay me $150 and have cake left over for after the party!
WOW! I had no Idea I was undercharging by that much!!
Me either, I only charged $50 for the Optimus Prime in my photo gallery.
I start at $100 for 3-d, frankly they aren't getting it any where else. So if they really want it they will pay and it will at least be worth my time.
My minimum is 15 and I charge $4.00 a serving..Alot of really good 3D Decoraters won't touch a cake for under a $100.00 though...
