I know this has been asked a zillion times, but I can't find anything w/ the search tonight.

So, I have a cake due Sunday at 1 for a friends shower.

I've baked & frozen most of the layers, but my question comes w/ baking the last layer & then decorating.

I'll be gone most of the day Sat (leave it up to my MIL to plan my dh's bday dinner icon_mad.gif ). If I have to I won't go, but....

Would it be ok to bake my last layer & thaw the others on Thurs.? Crumb coat everything Thurs. Ice on Friday & do most of the decorating Friday evening/ Sat morning?

The fillings & icing will be buttercream. nothing perishable.

Thanks so much

I like to decorate my cakes no sooner than the day before but sometimes life just doesn't cooperate. Your timing is okay, I keep mine refrigerated if I have to do this.

I think its ok, since your fillings are just buttercream. I also have a cake for saturday. But the customer cannot come on that day. So they are coming on friday. I am baking my cake today and will do the decorations tomorrow. So you will be fine! icon_smile.gif

Thanks so much. It'll keep me sane & I may have time for a small cake for the family dinner

Will a fondant cake be ok that amount of time? I'm thinking about one for the mom to be
