I want to use stencils on some of my fondant cakes. I have had problems with things sticking to the fondant when I've done cutouts. What can I do with these stencils that will keep them from sticking or marring the finish of my cake?

Try dusting with cornstarch (corn flour) or powdered sugar. That should help. I sometimes have that problem and found the cornstarch helps a little.

Do hope this tip helps.

Cheers!

Thanks so much for your reply. I thought of that, but won't it leave powder on the fondant? I find that hard to get off sometimes.

Have you thought of making a wax paper 'stencil' to place between the cake & stencil? A bit of work depending on the design but it should help.

Good idea. Yes, a lot of work, but can probably do it. Thanks!
