I received an email from my Best Friend today, and it was all about wedding cakes, so I open it up and this is what I find.....

You really have to check these out. Holy cow.....
Unbelievable is all I can say!
The giant shells with the blown sugar pearls I think is my favorite...
ugh puts my skill level in perspective LOL
i feel pretty confident in my abilities but i wouldn't even know where to start on any of those
Wow....my sister sent me this email last year, along with the one with the life size bridal cake. I was amazed at how big those cakes are!!!
Jala
What is that they say on some TV commercial? Ahhhh-mazing!
I'd be interested in knowing how/where they bake such large cakes too! I don't think there is such a thing as a walk-in oven, is there?
All beautiful and very impressive. Thanks for sharing!
the only one that i like is the one that is orange and teal.. the one that looks like a normal cake... the sunflower one in my opinion is UGLY!!!
I enjoyed looking at these, thanks. I think it was about the 8th one, looked like donuts. Now I've gotta go get some Krispy Kreme Donuts, yum.
actually there are walk in ovens... they used them in donut factories and such... it is a large convention oven with a rotating base... you load a pastry cart thing, and then stick it in the center of the oven, and it rotates as it bakes...
Ok, so I saw this last week too. A friend emailed it to me. But here are my questions...
1) how much of these can you eat?
2) how well do you think they taste after being handled as much as you know they had to have been?
3) How many people did it take to make these?
I am not trying to talk it down, because thet really are a sight to behold. But I just want to know how something that large comes about....

Those are in most bakeries. I've actually never seen a bakery without one. I wonder if some of the cake pans he uses are wedge shaped and he just pieces the cakes together into a circle. Think of how long it would take to bake a cake that size, then how does one go about slicing and filling the layers?! Food Network should do a special with him.
They are amazing.....The cost of the cakes must be herendus......can you imagine the cost of the whole wedding.....Yikes........Some of them were simple beautiful and over the top.....thanks for sharing...
