Earlier tonight I saw a cake in the gallery and in the description the creator stated the roses were built on a chocolate kiss. This sounded like a great idea since my bases always tip and slide around on my flower nail. Since I had time to play around tonight I gave it a try. I used a little icing to stick the kiss to the nail and then piped the rose petals right on the kiss. The roses I made tonight are the best I have ever done. If anyone is struggling with creating a good base give it a try! icon_biggrin.gif

I have read about that method, but haven't tried it. Glad it worked for you.

This method works very well, the reason it isn't taught in cake deco.; classes is because it limits you to one size of rose. It is also very easy to make a rose on a dowel, check out this video.
