I've always wanted to enter a cake or pie into the Iowa State Fair. This year I'm going to do some planning and enter a white cake with raspberry filling. All recipes need to be from scratch and I plan on using all fresh ingredients. What recipes and special ingredients do you think are blue ribbion quality? I hope to use a local dairy for the butter and milk. What recipes would you enter into your local fair?

Oh wow...let's see. I would go to The Cake Bible and find something in there. Hmmm....I would imagine something that isn't too fussy. Simple, well executed cake, and a knock out, drop dead to die for filling! SMBC for frosting.....lots of ideas. Cake Bible for sure, but I know someone will be along shortly with more specific suggestions...I'm just too fidgety to think of one thing right now.
