I am new to decorating and VERY new to fondant. I tried searching this question but couldnt find anything.

I am having a problem putting fondant on a square cake---the sides always push together and crack. Any advice? Should I be putting in on differently (I roll it out, pick up the "slab" and set it on top of the cake, the smooth the top and sides down)

I'm using MMF...not regular fondant. From scanning some of the other forums, I'm thinking that might be part of the problem

I've heard that MMF can be very tempermental. Not my own experience, as I'm also very new to fondant and haven't used it yet. That being said, the best advice I ever got regardig fondant on a square cake - when you do the sides, get your corners right first, then smooth the actual sides. If you try to do it the other way, it doesn't work.
