I am planning now for a graduation cake. I loved the Rockin Guitar Cake from Ace of Cakes.

I would love to make something like this. How long in advance do I need to do this?

Hard to say without knowing your skill level . Have you ever worked fondant and gumpaste before or done any airbrushing? Done any shaped, carved, or 3D cakes?

Have you ever worked fondant = yes
and gumpaste = yes
done any airbrushing? = no, but I believe I can get around that with black fondant with a center cut out - kinda like a tuxedo look.

3D cakes = not sure what you mean
