hi all
ive read alot about bettercreme here on Cc and wanted to give it a try .
so i will be whipping up my first batch of nurtiwhip today ( i am told its the same thing ) . and was wondering can you color it (question mark)
and when do you add the color . before whipping or after wards (question mark)
can you tell me what you mean by bettercream?? Do you mean buttercream icing??
I have not heard of a buttercream that uses nutriwhip?
no no im not talking about the butter cream
its a non dairy liquid like whipping cream . think of it like a stabilized whipping cream . ( i did not know about it either till i came across this thread

Laurie - bettercream is a product made by Rich's foodservice. Similar products include Pasrty Pride, Frostin' pride and nutriwhip apparently. Melvira, CC's own bettercream fairy, has this awesome thread all about it:

sheeza - I use Frostin' Pride which is very similar to bettercream. You can get pastel colors no problem, but it's not the best for very vibrant colors. Color it like you would buttercream. You shouldn't have much trouble. I would add after whipping, so you know how it will actually look.

Oh thank you thank you thank you
i just didnt want to ruin it you know
Oh, I thought nutriwhip was just like cool whip, except you had to whip it yourself! I will have to try some of the variations on Melivira's thread for a change. Everyone is getting sick of regular old buttercream icing as I practice, practice, practice!!!
I would add meringue powder to it to help hold it together! I use nutriwhip because it is dairy free but to use it like icing on a cake or as a filling you really need to add meringue powder. I add 2-4 Tbsp to half the box.

thats a good tip ! how about the whipping creme stabilizer ? im wondering if that would work . dont have enuf meringue powder on hand . alsoo
since we are talking meringue powder . ive noticed it gives kind of a tart taste to the icing may be somethings wrong with mine. or is it how its supposed to be . just wondering.
I use (and sell) Bettercreme. In fact, I just did a wedding cake yesterday frosted with it. It's a great product (don't overwhip it; but if you do just add a bit more of the Bettercreme and rewhip).
The previous responder was correct. You can pastels, but not deep colors (it requires too much color and will change the texture of the Bettercreme). Just remember to use gel colors; not liquid or powder. Americolor soft gel colors work great with this product.
By the way, a quart goes a long way. I did a 3 tier cake...6,9, 12 and had plenty left over.

I think it is off... I have ever had a tart taste to mine..I think that it has a more vanilla taste... if I was going to say it had a taste.
I do not use Wilton so if that is what you have I have no idea what it taste like.
I use wilton meringue powder and haven't noticed a taste. But then again, I dont use it in buttercream only RI.
