Hello. I've seen a few post on here about how long people should decorate their cakes. I have a birthday party on saturday at 2 pm. to delivery a cake. It is a 3 tiered cake with a thick layer of buttercream and MMF to cover each layer. I'm done baking the cakes as of about 5 min ago. I don't plan on freezing them. In the past I wrap them in saran and tin foil then decorate the day before.

Is it really going to make a difference in the taste and texture of the fondant if I just go ahead and cover the cakes in the fondant today and do last min details tomorrow instead of all the major work tomorrow?

I don't have anything to cover the cake with so it will just be sitting out in a protected area from the kids of course.

Thanks,
Debbie

Should not be a problem at all.

Just another vote in the "you'll be fine" column.

I regularly ice/decorate my cakes on Thursday for a Saturday event.
